wheels in motion
Helen Jane Slater — a laser engraving artist, photographer, and digital artist who finds stories in light, colour, and motion. Photography, for me, is more than an image — it’s a language of emotion. Each frame becomes a whisper of how I see the world: sometimes soft and dreamlike, sometimes vivid and alive with colour. Through Lightroom, I paint my feelings into each photograph, turning moments into memories that shimmer with imagination. My wheelchair, adapted with a tripod, is both my companion and my compass. Together, we travel — setting my wheels in motion toward discovery and adventure. From this seated vantage point, I’ve learned that creativity knows no bounds; it only asks that you look a little closer, feel a little deeper, and find wonder in every turn of the wheel. Art, for me, is freedom — a way to move through the world, one image at a time.
